Quick RFI Sizing Question Quick RFI Sizing Question

Sorry as I'm sure this has been asked and answered at nauseam. I'm working through the search function and not seeing anything immediate for some reason.

Is there significantly enough EV difference in 6max to prefer different opening sizings based on position rather than just a universal size?

For example, UTG/HJ = 2bb, CO = 2.3bb, BTN = 2.5bb, SB = 3bb

Vs

2.5bb in all postions

Is it enough EV difference to warrant differing sizes at say.....200nl and lower?

And if so, would you recommend the above sizing, or something like 2bb from UTG/HJ/CO, 2.5 BTN and 3 SB?

Thanks in advance and again I apologize for what I'm sure is a very redundant question.

I looked at this before, 2x compared to 2.5x is 7% higher EV from LJ, 3% from HJ in solver-world.

doesn't matter, i solved multiple versions preflop and there's actually no noticeable difference in EV

Thanks.

So, for example, in the long run, since we will face a 3bet more often in earlier positions, when we fold 2bb vs 2.5bb.....that .5bb difference...

That's basically just made up for with our opening ranges being tighter the earlier portion? IE, the .5 vs the tighter ranges = effectively a wash?

As well as they should be 3 betting us with a tighter range the earlier our open position is.

It generally doesnt matter itself, but it is important that you are aware of the differences it can make for postflop play. For example if you open larger, BB might stop calling some offsuit hands like T7o which will matter on flops like T7x so you can now use larger cbets there.
If you use solver to analyse your hands and you pay for some preflop ranges, or you use something like GTO Wizard, it will just make your life easier to use similar open sizings, so that you can analyse your hands more precisely.

The differences I gave were for GTOWizard's 50NL ranges with the different opening sizes. At lower rake structures I'd guess opening bigger is less bad because of facing more calls and fewer 3bets.

Thanks.

I have wizard and also the redchip solved ranges. Also have PIO edge, but that doesn't really do much for this.

I've experimented with 2.5 across the board. 2.0, 2.3. 2.5, 3.0 nice wizard has both.

Currently doing 2.0 first 3, 2.5 btn, 3.0 sb

Seeing which one "feels" more comfortable. I know that's not very logical, but don't have enough data yet to compare them in database.

But figured you guys have already solved this a million times over.

2 early positions, 2.25 co, 2.5bu, 3sb is generally the optimal structure. What's more important is realizing what drives this sizing shape. Namely the interplay between wanting to play a bigger pot vs the blinds (because you have position and a stronger range) and not wanting to risk too much when getting 3bet or flatted by IP players. So if for example your pool is not 3betting at correct frequencies you can go ahead and open larger from early position.

So, the 2bb from UTG/HJ/CO is out for me.

At least in 200nl and lower, it creates too many multiway pots.

This might change at higher stakes, but down here, I was seeing noticeably more 3 and even quite a few 4 way pots.
