Preflop equity hand vs hand Preflop equity hand vs hand

Hi
There is some approximations to calculate equity preflop between 2 hands.
Ex: pair vs overpair: 18% vs 82%
A5 vs kk: 33% vs 67%
Is there an approximate equity table that contains all these rules? If yes, why do programs run simulations to calculate those equity preflop.
One case I find tricky is a4 and a5 have similar equity because most of the time they are choping but AQ and AK not the same story. Is there a rulebook to deduce equity preflop between 2 hands?
Thanks

If you are interested in this, I would suggest you make your own table of approximate equities. Two unpaired high cards vs. a lower pair; two unpaired cards vs. two other unpaired cards where the ranks are staggered (where the ranks are sandwiched, where the ranks are dominated). Etc. Only you can determine the level of "granularity" that is right for you.

Also, simulations are not used for hand vs. hand preflop equities since it is easy for modern computers to simply go through every possible board and tally which hand wins. There are several free online equity calculators that you may want to take a look at if you haven't already.

You can find various pre-flop equity charts via google. Here's one I found in about 5 seconds:

There are prettier ones on most of the basic training sites and forums.
