Hero v Maniac Strategy Question

Is it a good idea to tighten up in a live cash game with a maniac dominating the table, then maybe toss in a preflop min bet with a premium hand either after they call (IP) or before they enter (OOP) to entice them to try to blow you off the hand with an aggressive 3bet? What about unraised preflop, toss in a min bet to get the same reaction with a made hand or strong draw?
I'm just learning NL, and don't recall discussions of this scenario in any books I've read so far.

[EDIT]: Or maybe change up the sizing of the bait bet so as not to be transparent, right?

Sorry - not trying to "bump". It won't let me edit again.
In the second sentence, about the "unraised preflop" scenario, I meant to clarify that the action would be on the flop or subsequent turns where Hero chose not to do this preflop for whatever reason.
And seriously - can a moderator please move this question to the "Beginners and General Questions" subforum?
