Am starting to get into general flop sizings, for different boards. Intuitively, it feels incredibly helpful, to follow specific guidelines. For example, betting quarter-pot on monotone boards, or when the board comes 789, and you have AA, you decide to check back flop. Obviously, these are dependent on situation, but I've found that by adopting different betting strategies, post-solver world, it's been definitely helpful for my game.

So, I can feel the possible EV gain, by resorting to particular bet sizing strategies on the flop. It feels safer, I don't have to worry about raises, pretty much at all. And the entire range just feels very wieldy, and can handle all things, of various shapes and sizes in general.

But how much EV are we sacrificing, if we don't resort to these particular strategies ? I heard that, river is, the most important part of the game to play correctly ? Because it's easy to overbluff/underbluff, and we're dealing with much larger pots in general, right ?

Basically, I'm trying to figure out a way to study. But also, am wondering if the study will prove negligible. Or useful. Or maybe somewhere inbetween.

There is EV gain in this, but very quickly you will run into diminishing returns where perfecting your cbet strategies more and more won't make a difference

Learning how to outplay people on river won't ever be time wasted

Study rivers, but also study flops from the side of the defender, as overfolding flops vs cbets compared with solver frequencies is one of the biggest redline leaks I have and I assume most of us have (coupled with not defending the BB enough vs preflop steals, which goes side by side with the flop defense thing). Perfecting flop strategy as the aggressor is not exactly a low hanging fruit and can wait til you got rid of more important leaks imho.
