I was wondering... (I can not answer myself even closely)

What happen if I take out of the charts the low equity marginal PFR combos (about 10% of them. I’m using poker coaching ones) and I also reduce my 3-bet bluffs (about 25%) and calling overall with some strong-ish 3-bet fold hands (say AQo)

Does my EV is going to change a lot or just a little bit?

I am aware that GTO charts should not be blinded followed and adjustments have to be done when playing with different opponents

The reasons i ask this is because I find it difficult to balance my range post flop with all the recommended GTO combos and a lot easier after I constructed my new ranges on equilab (pretty much what’s described above)

I played with this new ranges and I’ve found myself much more calm playing as I kinda felt to have more under control
Also, variance seemed lower even though I haven’t played enough with these slightly tighter ranges

I only play ~ ABI 12 on stars mainly and I can see players do play decently well!

My main question is: does 3-bet bluff less (overall) and taking off the least EV hands on the charts affect my game a lot?

Not sure if the question is a good one or not but I can’t answer myself so I decided to ask you here guys

Thank you for all your opinions/answers

i think that depends on how weak your opponents are. if your opponents know your are supposed to open 16-18% in EP and you are only opening 10% and then adapt... you will have problems. but if they dont adapt playing 0ev hands is kind of just wasting your time and playing these fringe hands can also be very exhausting... also if you dont really know how to play these hands, they are probably not 0ev opens but -ev opens... so i think starting out tigher and becoming wider step by step when you feel comfortable with it is totally fine..same goes for 3betting... especially since people underfold to 3bets.

if you remove the marginal parts of ranges, your EV against an opponent that doesn't know what you're doing will probably stay the same, that is, you won't lose anything.

The problem is when an experienced opponent (most opponents with a hud) realise you are tight as hell, and exploit you accordingly. At that point you will be losing a **** ton of money by getting your blinds stolen without you stealing others blinds, and you won't be able to get value whenever you have a strong hand

Against fish though it doesn't matter, or rather, it matters that you adjust exploitatively

thanks for your answer. is 16 PFR tight as hell in your opinion (this is my "new ranges" average? doing some studies/exercises with flopzilla i noticed that i am waay more comfortable playing 16 pfr rather than 20/21 pfr in terms of constructing my range finding more quickly bluffs and value combos and when to bet and when to check / give up.
Probably i just need to practice more and then i will be able to work with more combos efficiently?

Yeah i think 16 is way too tight, imo just dive in with the correct ranges and learn along the way, you will fail at first but thats better than stagnating
