Making a hero call requires a certain state of mind and answering these two questions:
- How low can I go with my hand's strength ?
- What kind of feeling will the correct decision give me ?
These are not easy questions, but I found a way to train your mindset and prepare you better for making a hero call and answer these 2 questions. All you need is a deck of 52 cards.
Every try consists of two parts:
1. Making a flawless BLACK / RED combo
2. Making the HERO CALL
#part 1. You put on the table the Ace of Spades (on the left) and the Ace of Hearts (on the right). Each side will represent a number. Left side is the number of players participating in the tournament and the right side is the place in the top 10 you finish the tournament. Each correctly guessed card is worth:
BLACK card => 100 players
RED card => 1 place up
So you start with a 100 players MTT and 10th place finish. You shuffle the remaining 50 cards and deal cards one by one. By choosing the correct color (side) for every card you deal, you improve the size of the MTT and your final result. Maximum of 9 red cards can be dealt - if you deal them all correctly you must stop, because you can't go further than 1st place finish. Of course you can stop earlier - whenever you want, it's your decision. If you make a mistake and the card was dealt on the wrong side, it's game over and you have to start again. If you decide to STOP and end your combo you can progress to:
#part 2. You take the whole 52 card deck and choose any 5 cards you want to use, this will be
your hero call hand that you risked your tournament life with. This part is to help you see "how low can you go ?". If your 5 card poker hand is ready, you shuffle the remaining 47 cards and deal your opponent's 5 card hand. If you win (or tie), the call was correct and your black and red combo is now your result. If you lose, it's game over and you finish outside the top 10.
