Making a hero call requires a certain state of mind and answering these two questions:

- How low can I go with my hand's strength ?
- What kind of feeling will the correct decision give me ?

These are not easy questions, but I found a way to train your mindset and prepare you better for making a hero call and answer these 2 questions. All you need is a deck of 52 cards.


Every try consists of two parts:

1. Making a flawless BLACK / RED combo
2. Making the HERO CALL

#part 1. You put on the table the Ace of Spades (on the left) and the Ace of Hearts (on the right). Each side will represent a number. Left side is the number of players participating in the tournament and the right side is the place in the top 10 you finish the tournament. Each correctly guessed card is worth:

BLACK card => 100 players
RED card => 1 place up

So you start with a 100 players MTT and 10th place finish. You shuffle the remaining 50 cards and deal cards one by one. By choosing the correct color (side) for every card you deal, you improve the size of the MTT and your final result. Maximum of 9 red cards can be dealt - if you deal them all correctly you must stop, because you can't go further than 1st place finish. Of course you can stop earlier - whenever you want, it's your decision. If you make a mistake and the card was dealt on the wrong side, it's game over and you have to start again. If you decide to STOP and end your combo you can progress to:

#part 2. You take the whole 52 card deck and choose any 5 cards you want to use, this will be your hero call hand that you risked your tournament life with. This part is to help you see "how low can you go ?". If your 5 card poker hand is ready, you shuffle the remaining 47 cards and deal your opponent's 5 card hand. If you win (or tie), the call was correct and your black and red combo is now your result. If you lose, it's game over and you finish outside the top 10.

It turned out that this game has a second variant where you swap the red and black sides, and play for a HERO BLUFF instead of a hero call. The 5 card hand you choose in phase 2 must then be BEAT by random 5 - your hand will then represent the opponent's hand that you made fold. You will need to decide "How high can you get ?". It's cool also because it fixes the problem of a long run results of random 5 cards, sometimes it will be low, sometimes it will be high. "System Overload" is actually a two games package and I play it all the time. Plastic cards and fast side-shuffling recommended if you want to play too.

Have you guys ever heard of a better hero call than 6 high river shove call for tournament life on single paired board with 3 card flush draw ? I once saw a 10 high river call for tournament life in EPT on double paired board, that's probably the lowest you can get in real money big MTT. My hero call was against bots, but really difficult bots, so I find it sick, too. I feel great about making it. It feels like hunting down a deer. The bot was trying to make a 3-barell bluff, but I sniffed that out pretty well. They don't do that often. Really sick call. I was trying to win this 360 players MTT after making the call when 91 players still playing, but I finished 9th instead - that's how difficult is to win this tournament. Best poker video game ever. Posssibly, best hero call ever, too

I analyzed the screen photos I made and it actually wasn't a call for my tournament life, but it was a big river all-in bluff and ... it was my FIRST EVER attempt to call a river shove with a hand lower than Jack high. So, as long as the probability, it must have been my skills more than luck. If it was only luck it would be impossible to hunt this down with just 6 high Still thinking about this hand, truly a rare jewel just as the game itself. It teaches me how to play poker
