I'm trying to figure out the average bubble factor pre-final table in a 180-man SNG but I'm not sure how to calculate our equity when we double through someone.

Say I wanna find out the average bubble factor when 18-handed (18 places paid btw). Each player would start the hand with 5.55% equity. If they went all-in and lost they'd end up with 1.2% equity (10th-18th pays 1.2%) which is the easy part, but seeing as there are no ICM calculators that calculate more than 10 payouts, how would I find out their equity when they win? Am I missing something here or is it just not possible?

You need to subtract out the money that everyone has already clinched. Once 18 players are left, each of them has won 1.2% of the pool, and so there's now 79.4% of it still up for grabs. Think of it as an 18-man tournament where the bottom 9 get nothing, and do your bubble factor calculations that way.

Thanks for the reply but I still don't see how we'd be able to calculate the gain in equity of doubling through and eliminating a player to complete a bubble factor calculation.

Bubble factor = (%EQ - %EQ_when_we_lose) / (%EQ - %EQ_when_we_win)

We can complete the first part of this calculation using the normal 180-man structure and also your modified structure, but I don't see how we can complete the second part.

In fact scratch my last post, your solution works perfect, thanks!

Any idea how I'd work out the average BF for the bubble and earlier?
