How much should my opening ranges change after limps in front of me

Eg.

UTG limp

Co limp

Would btn opening range now tighten up a fair bit? Would something like a4 off still be in the opening range?

There isn't really a great answer to this question because limping ranges in EP aren't optimal. A solver will recommend a very tight range with a little bit of overcalling. Zenith has limping ranges preflop that you can observe: https://preflop.zenith.poker/

Realistically those ranges are too tight, as most ppl who limp are fish and are limping way too wide/capped. You have to make a judgement call based on how wide you think they're limping and if they trap or only limp weak hands. A very general rule of thumb is to iso your opening range one seat back. e.g. a BTN iso vs 1 limp looks something like a CO open.

Hey man thanks for your reply! Really appreciate it, tried to have a look at the zenith but looks like it’s a paid subscription is that correct?

Yeah I think I get what you’re saying so if there is 2 limps would my btn open now become my utg+1 range opening? (6max)
And yeah I was more talking in terms of fish limping in with wide ranges not really an extensive well thought out balanced limping ranges

The zenith preflop ranges are free you just have to make an account.

You can go pretty far down the rabbit hole of exploring preflop strategies vs limps, but this seems fine tbh:

Agree with tombos that it's a good rule of thumb, and you can further finetune your range based on the limper's tendencies. Pay attention to what villain is limping (sometimes 1-2 showdowns are enough to get a good picture). The wider the limping range the more you can iso--bonus points if he's limp-folding a lot, since your main source of ev is taking down the pot uncontested.

The last bit also explains why we need to tighten up as a default, because every extra limper decreases the likelihood of us taking down the pot preflop.
