difficult feet to claim 100 VIP points per day for 22 days. GL to those who try.

So, one has to earn 1,500 VIPP x five Thursdays (total of 7,500 VIPP) to get one $109T?

yes please clarify this.

1)Do we have to opt in to the 20 day 10 VIP point promo?

2)If we already have a bonus does earning a new one cancel the old one? Or is there a way to have it kick in once you current bonus is expired/cleared?

3)Are rakeback players eligible for the freerolls?

I'm going to say almost definitely not - if you do that, I think you'd get 5 tickets.

The question I have is where do we go to see how many VIP points we've earned on a particular day.

Edit: NVM, points ledger

Im thinking the opposite.

It's ridiculously hard to get 1500 VIP's every thursday.

Much much easier to get 100 points 20 days in a row

You don't have to do it every Thursday! You get 1,500 pts on 1 Thursday, you get a ticket.

Seth,

Please clarify whether you get a ticket on thursday for earning 1500 points or if you have to earn 1500 points every thursday.

Also, is it a $2k freeroll like last month an actual $100 $2k guaranteed tournament.

For people with RB, you have to generate $230 in rake in one day for 1500 VIPs, and that's contributed rake not dealt.

Considering that the max rake for a pot is $3, thats over 150 pots AI(well for 60% of stack, but how often do you put 60% and fold) pots at 50NL, seems very difficult due to limited traffic.

At 100NL, the rake is approx. $60/1000 hands on avg. I guess so it is a lot more doable, but for any lower stake this is not really possible.

For lower stakes, why not institute a month long promotion? For example you generate $500 dollars in rake in one month at levels 25NL- , you get a $33 MTT ticket. I'm sure there are players who generate $400 and would play a bit more to actually get to $500, and also there will be some who attempt this but only get to $400 for example, just as is always the case with the max hands prop bet on 2P2. I know rake chases seem to be capped on Merge now, but this months thursday promo is nothing more than a one-day rake chase.

Merge's and RPM's business plan is really disappointing. They could be making more money for themselves and at the same time they could also be making sure that the tables are always filled. The promotions do not always seem very well thought out: the 8000h for $109 hand promo was ridiculous, and then it was followed by 5000h for $5, WTF? Offering something ridiculously good at a cost, and then taking it completely away is always a way of losing customers. People have a tendency to start feeling entitled to things like that, despite not really being deserving of them in the first place.

I understand Merge and Cake were fighting for customers back in May and June and thus the ridiculously good promos, but it doesn't mean that the current promos have to be so poorly designed. People are not looking for handouts, but options. If you limit them to a $150 in a day promo, they'll just say **** that, I might as well wait for Mon-Wed, and actually get something for my time.

Correct; you must earn 1,500 VIP Points in each Thursday of the month.

I was just about to come back and say I think I'm wrong

1) per RPMSeth no opt in.

2) per RPMSeth, you can complete your existing bonus then activate the bonus that is stacked up. I have one bonus for reload, and then the new one could wait 2-3 months then start it. $14wcr is not to hard daily. Nice to keep a bonus on top of rakeback.

One more I added, Monday and Tuesday you still have to earn 100 not a doubled 50 so no double point day slacking.

silly is putting it nicely to have to do a feat so difficult once is hard enough to have to do it 5 times is insane. then, its made exponentially difficult by being forced to do it on 1 specific day of the week 5 weeks in a row. if there was a reward for earning 1500 points per thursday or 1 thursday of the month that seems a bit more reasonable, forcing them to do it 5 times makes it near impossible for 99% of the player base. say you are on the the 5th and final thursday with 1490 VIP points earned and your internet goes out. now a whole month of work is ruined thanks to a freak accident. this is just a silly/insane/insert derogatory adjective here promotion

A ****load of points. What steaks you play?

Sneaky, I'm referring to the small payoff for the points involved as well as the vagueness in the language of the promo. It's not about whether it is too hard or not.

Anyone who didn't know about it or missed yesterday is immediately ineligible so that take care of that and makes it worthless....unless you think like I did that you can get a tourney ticket for each Thursday. If there are players out there understandably tricked by that then they will still go for it on a Thursday or two...and will be pretty disappointed later on.

1500 points for $109 would be a good value but wouldn't be over-the-top insane or anything. About 70% rakeback value for the ticket alone. So yeah, that's a lot...but it's not 300% or something silly.

7500 total points for just a $109 ticket at the end is only a 14% rb increase for a fair amount of work involved every single Thursday. Basically it is giving an extra $22 for the 1500 every single Thursday which alone would be nothing to get excited about....and making it a big combined thing with the commitment of every single Thursday involved make it worse.

I briefly got excited for the Thursday thing when I initially misunderstood it and thought I might go for it a couple times. But the value is way worse than I thought and it's just not really worthwhile. It's only valuable for anyone who already happens to put in that kind of volume on Thursdays to begin with.

I will be curious how many people actually fulfill that promo.

i would have went for the promo had i not missed yesterday...sigh
09-02-2011 , 05:36 PM
Agree with microbob.

Having a promotion where you had to earn 10k points to get the ticket would be good value in my opinion.

Making me earn 1500 points on 5 specific days makes it not very good.

Given the high rake I sort of expect better promos to make up for it.

We are actually editing this promotion so it also starts this coming Thursday for those who may have missed it early in the month. You can still qualify!

If you really think that then you definitely do not agree with me.

Pretty much my entire post was about how earning that many points for just a $109 ticket was not a very good value at all. It's a somewhat worse on the inconvenience of having to do it on all the Thursdays.

I mean, I guess if they said, "Earn 10k points in September and get a free $109 tourney ticket" then that would be okay. Lots of people are going to earn 10k points anyway so a 15%'ish rakeback value boost on top of that would be nice. Still not exactly anything to lose your mind over but it would be a nice promo.

As it stands now this promo is just not very good. Kind of surprised a couple people in this thread are evidently interested in this one. but if they are rationing the play they would be doing anyway just to be a bit more top-heavy on Thursdays so that they get this on top of what they would normally be getting then it makes some amount of sense. My schedule is too inconsistent and too busy to want to take advantage of this regardless.
09-03-2011 , 02:39 AM
FWIW, as much as I think the Thursday promo is just not very good and also potentially deceiving as originally written...I still love the double points days and am very impressed with those. There is absolutely some great value involved with those and they are very much worth taking advantage of...way more so than the Thursday thing for almost all players I think.
09-03-2011 , 06:31 AM
paul rizzo- On thursday i played longest session ever played on RPM so far... i played about 13 hrs str8 mostly 6-8 tabling $36 superturbos and 28 buck hu turbos, made 8kish VIPS,

micr0b0b-the promos are free and if you happen to get 1 then you are lucky to get anything, they dont HAVE to give anything- just be greatful for a guaranteed 109 ticket at the end of the month, you will play anyway right? even if they didnt give it. You get rakeback and VIPS even if you fail at trying to get it. THe only thing this month i think you should be allowed to miss like 3 days in the "Earn 100 vips a day everyday " tourney... people get sick, people lose power... etc.
