To get started, email Manager at RPMPOKER dot com with your picture, your screen name, and your start date. Once you receive confirmation, you can get started. This challenge can be repeated, yes.

I finished my KOTR a few days ago and emailed in.

Seems to me that posting pictures of the players might pose a bit of a security issue for players, especially for those who might at some point win a substantial amount in a tournament.
06-03-2011 , 03:06 AM
Santa - It's a voluntary thing. The players are giving their permission.

MicroBob, it's not voluntary, all players participating must submit a picture. Everyone on the site should be able to participate in all of the promotions. Furthermore just because someone voluntarily submits their photo doesn't mean that they understand the possible risks involved. Live players frequently get rolled because the bad guys know they have money. The anonymity of the web protects online players from those bad guys. I hope you don't actually believe that, especially in this economy, there aren't bad guys out there.

first off my picture is on the site, and I wish a mother ****er would, thats a whole lot of detective work dont think my address is that easily obtainable. The guys from casinos get followed. Doing this challenge does not mean you are baller. You can do this challenge on a couple hundred dollars. If the "bad guys" so to say, can find the hall of fame list then they already know to plan 4-6 weeks in advance

Not sure I see how this is worse than having a facebook

ps. We are the bad guys thought you knew
06-03-2011 , 07:38 AM
It doesn't take any detective work at all. I'm not suggesting that someone from Orlando, Florida would fly up to Toledo, Ohio to rob someone. Unless the player is a total recluse, many people in the surrounding community know who he is. This includes bad guys and desperate folks in the community.

Unlike folks on Facebook, poker players have historically been targets. A lot of pros you see on TV have been robbed at one point or another and a lot of them weren't simply followed from the casino. The advice I've always received is don't tell people about your winnings.

As I mentioned in my original post my concern would be for folks who go on to win tournaments in the future. And even for security concerns Merge won't let you change your username, I tried.
06-03-2011 , 07:46 AM
^^^ lmao dude you are WAY too paranoid.

At the most, these "baddies" are going to see a picture and a screen name. Explain to me how they are going to use that info to steal your money either physically or electronically?

Plus you realize how many tracking sites out there exist? It's not hard for people to find out who is winning money.

It is hard to to do much with just a screen name.
06-03-2011 , 07:59 AM
It has nothing to do with paranoia, it has to do with cold reality something folks in the poker world sometimes forget about.
I don't think you read my post very carefully. I explained how someone can find a player with a picture. A screen name has absolutely nothing to do with tracking a person's whereabouts only with tracking a person's winnings.

Man I must suck at not getting trolled.

para·noia - a tendency on the part of an individual or group toward excessive or irrational suspiciousness and distrustfulness of others

Ok, what if I told you that this guy keeps his front door unlocked and leaves a million dollars in cash under his pillow and hes never home from 9am-9pm. He lives somewhere in the United States. Im gonna post his picture, you have to go find him and you get a million dollars.

Ok tell me how you are gonna find out who it is and where they live to get this free million dollars waiting for you.

You're the one getting trolled??? LOL

How would I know who he is I've never seen him before? What does that have to do with what I said? Where is it that you think I said that I would know the identities of the folks who posted their pictures? You shouldn't respond to someone's post until you actually read the post.

MicroBob, this is part of the problem. Some players out there without the ability to think things out are posting their pictures. They are not all making informed decisions.

Put that money in escrow for anyone to identify that person and I'll guarantee that you will lose it.

You're right you said that "bad guys" could find this out, without giving any reasoning behind how they would do this. So please tell us how the bad guys would go about this, or give us any idea. Maybe they would run down to their local FBI office and ask them if you could run someones grainy non-centered photo through their facial recognition software? What am I saying the bad guys probably have this same software preloaded with everyone in the entire united states names and addresses and mug shots somehow, hopefully it will be able to work around photoshopped crowns/mustaches in order to properly identify the victims so they can then drive to their house to jack them out of the presumably thousands of dollars they have not in a bank or safe location but sitting in their house.

That is from a commercial right? I saw the youtube video not sure what it is all about except says how blind do you have to be. Actually people can find things fairly easy if they know how. For the average person it is not likely. For someone with access to certain computers it is very possible. (CIA, FBI, who knows who else) But if they really want to spend that much time looking for the info they are going to find you regardless of what you do. (Picture or not on the web)

I don't know why some people have such a hard time reading. I did say how people would find this out. As I said in my post, people in his community would know who he is. I'd say probably thousands of people where I live know who I am. I'm saying that making one's winnings public information to those in the community is a real bad idea for winning players.

Fuzzydunflop thinks that a person can post his picture, put a million dollars under his bed and leave his front door open and his money would be safe. His comments show how little thought was put into his decision to submit his picture.

Poker has always been considered easy money by some; and theives tend to go after easy money. It doesn't matter how much money a person actually has on hand. Things can go much worse for people when theives are disappointed.

I realize that this is just a fun promotion. I was simply suggesting that it hadn't been completely thought out. I can't even imagine PokerStar's security allowing a promotion like this to go through.
