12-24-2011 , 09:07 PM
750 seems high... Even pokerstars is overlaying already... this isn't just a US holiday... I think it'll be lucky to reach 700
12-24-2011 , 10:19 PM

Men, think that's pretty common. Really long late registration in it. 2 hours right?

Ended up with 754 players after late reg finally closed.

Decent overlay there although not exactly mind-blowing. What to do they get on a typical Sunday? I had not played this for a few months but thought I remembered it being somewhere close to that.

Anyway, about $18k overlay (based on $109 entry...not $100 because that's stupid). Total of $82k paid by the players for a $100k prize-pool.

Another way to look at it is that you got an entry valued at $133 (or even $133+10 if you want to view it that way) for only $109.

Late reg is usually 1.5 hours I believe, and it was been drawing 1100 runners since they started with the 10K promo

Wow. That's quite an increase. I think the last ones I played were in Aug or earlier and I'm pretty sure it was around 750 or so then. Really surprised that thing started surpassing the overlay like that but it might be due to extending the late registration?

I can't imagine there are THAT many people getting into that 10k hand promo. I wouldn't have thought there were even 100 RPM'ers hitting up that 10k hand promo on any given Monday and even that feels high to me. It's just too many tables and too many hands for the vast majority of players (most people have actual jobs and are kind of busy on Mondays too of course).

Thinking about it more: Maybe 40-50 tables going at the micros on Mondays where most of these types of players would grind it out? 40 tables * average of 7+ seats per table (mixing 6max and full) would be 300 total seats. So even if EVERY seat were taken by a promo-chaser and they were all 12-tabling that would only be 25 players...without ANY non-promo players or single-tablers or anyone else. And it would take those 25 players several hours to rack up the 10k hands at only 12 tables.

No way the increase is due to the promo. Maybe a small bump but not much. I suspect it's more tied into easier depositing and increased player-base, etc.

Also, don't forget that the rakeback players on any of the skins can't get the cash-to-points option so buying into tourneys are their way to unload the points they have been racking up. But mostly I think it's just donks who like big tourneys who buy in directly with cash...and are able to do so quickly via their CC on a spur of the moment if they want to.

Yea, I doubt the increase was from 750 to 1100 due to the promo. It was getting 980ish for a month or so preceding the 10K hand give away.

They have been bumping it up over past month and half, was 1 hour for the longest time, then 1 1/2, now 2.

Up until 5-6 weeks they averaged between 800 and 925 players. Since then with the exception of today they have been running 1050-1200
12-26-2011 , 01:56 PM
it increased i believe because they opened back up to new US players
12-26-2011 , 03:08 PM
oh yeah, they didn't allow new U.S. players for quite awhile...and then started accepting them again, right? I didn't really pay much attention to that since i was already in.

But the extended late registration definitely makes a difference too...as well as the relative ease of depositing now.

So how many runners did it end up getting yesterday?

I really wanted to play it b/c of the small field but couldn't justify spending christmas away from family. I wonder how big it will be next week, New Year's day.
12-27-2011 , 11:59 PM
why did it go down from 1100?
12-28-2011 , 12:09 AM
Did you not notice the major, significant holiday this last Sunday?
01-01-2012 , 05:11 PM
ok.......then why are there over 1000 players today? you know today's a holiday too right?!
01-01-2012 , 10:29 PM
im suprised there were >1k entrants today. was expecting about 800 or so.

is it just me or is the late registration too long? up to 2 hours now.
01-05-2012 , 08:22 AM
Real, I can't tell if you're serious or not...but the previous holiday tends to have a tradition of people spending time with families, etc. The more recent holiday doesn't hold quite the same significance to many people. Not sure if you observe or understand the difference between the two holidays and how most people tend to spend their time on each one but if you don't I guess it can't really be explained terribly easily.
