YKW is currently playing in a IM-norm tournament in Dallas and is featured in this US Chess article! His first round win is briefly annotated about half way down the page. Nice win there and good luck with the rest of the tournament!

Thank you sir

Meh, had 2.5/3, but lost a very interesting game today chances for a norm are pretty slim now, but hey, at least I can get some rating points hopefully I am planning to post my annotated games here after the tournament is over and I have more time.

And god, did she take my words out of context. Wow. Comment after move 5 sounds SO bad when out of context, everyone will think I am absolutely ******ed now.

Hey, I know Tyler Hughes. I played at the same club as he did when he was coming up. He'll be a GM eventually.

Lol thanks a lot, I am playing him with black tomorrow. I also have to study for my tomorrows exam so I will most likely play with little to no sleep. Good luck me

Lmao, I had to re-read that comment. Couldn't believe you would actually say that, so it makes sense.

Chess on no sleep = Chessic suicide.

Get some sleep and cut short the preparation is my humble advice.

All the best.

Nice! The 5th move comment made laugh knowing you hated it. But if I was just skimming the article, I wouldn't have thought twice about it. I'm pretty sure most people will get the gist of it.

Brag: Have 3.5/4 with black.
Beat: Have 0.5/2 with white.
Variance: got 2 whites and 1 black remaining.

Just lose a tempo in the opening as White or play a reversed system of your Black Repertoire.

Problem solved!

Serious Answer:
Spoiler:

You're probably not going to the game with enough "energy" but you're definitely at least sort of into the chess, so you're able to React well when playing Black. However you lack the energy/gumption/whatever you wanna call it to Create something with White.

Food for thought.

Finally won with white, against GM Ibragimov! (brag) Played opening pretty poorly though, he was better with black, but he overlooked my counterplay, lost a pawn, and after that I converted without too much trouble.

Need 1.5/2 for a norm, GM Annakov (with black) and WIM Vazirova (with white) left - hold your fingers crossed

Thus it became like you were Black, had to "react" instead of creating something, and you played well.

I'm not surprised.

Serious reply:

Congrats and GL!!

Meh, scored 6/9, won a tournament, but was half point short of an IM norm. I am probably the saddest tournament winner of all time At least I am getting a bunch of ELO points, should reach 2300 or be really really close to it. I will make it next time!
