Apropos blunder: Brandenburg-Schut in today's C group has a nice one (27. - Bxb3??). Looks completely stupid, but can be explained by playing the second move before the first.
Giri has now completed the Olympiade, if he loses the last game we'll have to invent a new metaphor. Let's hope he doesn't, i wouldn't fault either him or Navara for a 10-move draw.
Tough end for Giri. I see van Wely was unable to run out with a clean sheet of draws. It interesting to see the impact of a long tournament on the play...but lots of great games.
In that match, I like that idea of a rapid game ( just for the spectators ) in case a game ends in less than three hours.
Last round of Wijk Aan Zee 2012 has Aronian as White against Radjabov so it's likely to be either a g3 KID or a Bf4 QGD and one can only hope it's not a short draw.
Yes lol. They use a strange version of houdini this tournament

Do you actually blame Aronian for this? I can understand people who say Radjabov should try harder but Aronian not going for a draw would be a bigger insult to the tournament imo.

What else is he going to do? Risk losing the tournament for an extra 5 rating points or a shot at the 500 euro for best game? It's not like he's bored us to death in the rest of the tournament

It was up to Radjabov to play for a win and try to catch Aronian. You can't criticize Aronian for being satisfied with a draw when it guarantees him clear first place.
I don't see how 'I ****ed up' is cursing, And lol at all those youtube reactions. (they're probably all from us of a people btw...)
Also in the Netherlands you can even say **** YOU on prime-time television. (which is completely different imo.) Not saying I like that but it might explain why they probably didn't even consider to edit it.

Oh okay, that makes sense.
Can't curse here on TV/Radio, us Americans are prudes..
There were 91 games. Of these 52 were draws and 30 were decisive. 52/91 = 57% and not 78%. Sounds a lot better, doesn't it?
And even if there would have been more draws: So what? Draw is an integral part of chess; it is probably the default result if noone makes a mistake. Drawing is fine; the result itself says nothing about the quality of the game. As a spectator, it is just important that they don't make boring 12-moves draws.
