Critical position:



My oversight was thinking I had perpetual threats after Bg5 and Nh4 but missed Black's Qe5-h5 maneuver. So I spent all day thinking about Bxg7 then Qc7 but finally rejected it for my "safe" line. Post-mortem, YKH suggested the hybrid 19.Bg5 20.Qc7 which is the answer for anyone who treated this as a puzzle as it keeps White's attack alive for many more moves.

In time trouble I didn't see any good moves and played 24.Bxd5 which I was pretty sure loses (Bc7 looks like a try) but wish I had played 24.Bd1 because YNK said he would have played ...Qxh4! probably leading to a much more ascetic victory than in the game.

guess he is still sick - since I am paired with him for round 4 I think I may have to cram two games in fast when he is better

It seems to have kind of died. I stopped keeping track and assumed that if anyone wanted to play me, they'd contact me. No one has.

I think Kyle is the only person I didn't lose to yet.

Joshk, you and I are on the schedule for round 5 - I'm sort of in training from 1-5pm this week (Central time) but humorously enough, I can do it from home, so I could probably schedule a game today or tomorrow if u want
