Previously people in Europe and the Americas would have a difficult time getting onto this network, which attracts players up to and including top pros in China and Korea. But now it seems anyone can register, which is exciting.

15k players online is pretty insane for a site restricted to three countries. ICC usually has about 3000 players online. Although I guess chess is splintered between playchess, ICC, fics, etc whereas I'm guessing WBaduk is probably where almost everybody in those countries plays.

I think the real splintering of chess is the thousands of casual players playing on Yahoo, etc - I don't know if there is the same effect for go.
