Not sure how many have seen this, but Korchnoi had a stroke and is recovering in a hospital in Switzerland. At the age of 81, it's likely that he's done with the game, at least competitively. Here are a couple of articles.

I hope he makes a speedy recovery. I have a great amount of respect for someone that can play the game at a high level like that at 80+. Just last year he beat Caruana. That's incredibly impressive.

Does anyone have a couple of games of Korchnoi's they particularly like? I've never studied or really looked at his games at all and would be curious to see what y'all recommend.

I knew a guy who was told by a doctor to stop playing. He didn't. He lost his last game by dying.

Technically wouldn't he have lost on time, or did he die right as the flag fell?

I have read his book on his career "my best games" from Edition Olms not too long ago, that was a very interesting read, guy is a real fighter there is no doubt about that.
