I will add to swingdoc's Nakalysis

and say that he's much better than he was at 18, regarding arrogance and maturity. Personally I think most of it is just for show. I also know him personally.

It would be hard as hell to be anything other than arrogant given the above. That doesn't mean his attitude is okay. I certainly hope and expect that as he matures as a person, his attitude will mellow. Does that make sense? Oh, and 100% agree about him being incredibly talented and producing great, entertaining games.
I think this entire attitude thing is kind of blown out of proportion... to an extent. I think people feel he's arrogant because of what he does on ICC or whatever, but most of it is for show, and it's extremely entertaining to watch.

I'm sure he's pissed off a few people, but who really hasn't? He's a fun fan favorite, chess is extremely boring, but I think it's at least kind of cool that someone isn't afraid to sugar coat interview questions and he can say what he feels.

Obviously he's not 16 or 18 or whatever anymore. I did all kinds of dumb crap at that age and said stupid things. Hell, I'm 31 and do stupid crap all the time.

For a country like this where most of the top players are immigrants from Eastern Europe, it's kind of fun to have some kind of American-ized top player. It would be great to see guys like Hess, Friedel, Finegold and so forth get to Naka's level. Yes, Naka was born in Japan, but you know what I'm saying.

Nice post TC

It is nice to have an American player near the top.

Perhaps Robson and Hess will join him there in a few yrs.

Go USA.
