Upgrade to Chessbase 10 Fritz 11?

I currently own Chessbase 8, which I bought several years back, and see that Chessbase 10 is the current standard. Is it worthwhile to upgrade to CB 10?

I also have fritz 8 and see the latest version is 11...is that a worthwhile upgrade?

if you have/can get a database, you should get the new cb light premium. it's cb10 without the database afaik

I think you would be way better off with chessassistant+Rybka.
Both Chessbase and Fritz are overrated.

my cb10 is buggy as hell, was thinking about a downgrade to cb9. I haven't heard too many problems from others though

mine is running fine, and i actually like it. Had some old chessbase before, the function "prepare against white/black" is awesome.

hmmm now i got it to work, thanks swingdoc

It was the introduction page of the database that linked to some functions of cb10 that caused the cb9 to crash (i think) but i managed to work around it. The file format is the same despite the dvd saying big2009 requires cb10

I've been very unimpressed with CB10 especially after the recent update patch which somehow drastically slowed down using the reference function in databases. I would not upgrade.

Also, chessbase 10 is extremely buggy when you try to use it on a dual monitor system.

This is true, but usually you can fix it with 2 clicks. But i have wondered a lot "where is this dropdown menu" and it is on the other monitor than the one the rest of chessbase is on
