Hello all, my name is Rodrigo, 37 from Argentina.
Since i was a kid i really loved to play chess, but never dedicated any time to study it, only played blitz clicking buttons.
I know im a little bit older to start taking the game "seriously", but what do i lose? I have the time now.
So im playing lichess and chess.com (mostly lichess as i ve read that there are lot of cheaters on chess.com). My ratings there are 1700 and 1450...
The plan is to start studing as deep as i can one opening and its variations trying to get good at it and a two defenses to e4 and d4 (what most of the players in these ratings uses as openings). Going to do tactics on lichess too and when i feel i have some "strong" knowledge advance to middlegame and endgames.
My objective is to be in the 1850/1900 at lichess by the end of the year and 1600/1700 on chess.com.
Please any advice on how to or where to start would be nice! And toughts on objective?
Thanks i will update here as a blog, at least to try to make myself accountable for what im and not doing.

First one needs to pass the opening and decide how much work one is ready to put into it. One can make it simple or one can look for systems one likes. One learns their typical middle games and some endgames perhaps.

There are some middle game stuffs one needs to know after one has the basic tactics clear. The endgame isn't important very soon, just the typical simple endgames will do.

The knowledge part doesn't improve the rating; it improves the understanding of the game that makes it possible to get better.

Some have made a jump by getting the openings clear, some by tactics and some by endgames and others by whatever. All train the chess mind that's visual thinking.

Personally, I think chess.com is pretty good at catching cheaters.
