Searched Couldn't find it but figured hey we need a thread.

Read "Official Scrabble Player's Handbook "

and "The Champion's Strategy to Winning at Scrabble"

both picked up used for less than 5$ total.

What site does everyone play on? / Any local clubs/school have a team?

I read Word Freak a few years ago, got Lexpert, starting playing a lot on the ISC against the computers there. Haven't played for 2 or 3 years now.

Everything Scrabble is a great book that helped me a lot.

Does anyone know what happened to Lexpert? It was a study tool that a Michigan couple gave away for free, and it was priceless.

I hadn't googled it in a while. Looks like you can now get it from John Chew's site, http://poslfit.homeip.net/scrabble/

It's not free anymore, but you can use it free for 40 days.

I wish my old computer still worked; I had a copy on there.

Woo scrabble!
If you can't find lexpert, I think Zyzzyva is the software you want. It's free and has a bunch of useful features like the cardbox system for practicing words.

I'm bryceblitz on ISC these days (playing 3 minute games). I play some 15 minute games too.

Had a great result playing with my wife: three bingos including the first two which were back to back after she got to the H1 triple-word square with an S: "Shunters" up to A1 and then "Spirited" accross to A8! After playing a third bingo, she said something like "I don't want to play any more!" and despite all that went well, barely snuck over 500.

Normal opponent I have been playing...close games...nothing out of the ordinary. Out of the blue his/her last two plays are

1. Bezant using the z off of Adz
2. Halvah off of an ah for a triple word.

Really...have to cheat at scrabble or do ordinary people know these words.

Had to look up Bezant which is a gold coin of Constantinople

Halvah is a middle eastern pastry made of seasame seeds...

Didnt know I was playing a world traveler...

Words were played within minutes of each other following my plays which took 5 minutes

Maybe your opponent read through all the six-letter words and has a good memory.

Anyone else a USAPA rated player? I've only been playing a year in tournaments and am currently in the 500s. I have a tournament this weekend to play in.
I don't have anyone local club to play with, so I play a little on ISC and Scrabble on my iPod.

Currently Zyzzyva, Quackle and ISC are on my computer.
My iPod has Scrabble, Zarf, Zyzzyva, AdNoto.

I play on facebook, with tons of other people. They use the ELO rating system, like chess uses. My highest ranking was 1860 and I am roughly 2300-700 so far. I love playing scrabble while watching netflix. High game is 582. Gives me something to do with poker out of the way.

I watched the documentary on Scrabble players, it was really interesting, except that I find it pretty unsatisfying that so many two-letter combinations that are so far away from normal language are acceptable as words.

By the way, is the "words with friends" game that everyone was playing a few months ago the same as Scrabble?

No the multipliers are in different spots a spaced differently too. Bingos are worth 35 not 50 points. You play with 104 instead of 100 tiles. So its quite different.
