Question about Parcheesi Question about Parcheesi

In Parcheesi, most rules state that when moving you have two options, using the following example:
If you roll a 3+4, then you may move one pawn 7 spaces, or
you may roll one pawn 3 spaces and another pawn 4 spaces.

If I roll a 7, and have only one piece on the field (and, so, am forced to move it) and four spots away is an opponent's pawn, may I move my single pawn 4 spaces (to capture) and then move the remaining 3 spaces, or must I move the entire 7 simultaneously (without capturing)?

Your roll is 4+3 (not 7). You have the option of capturing opp's piece with 4 or if you would prefer not to capture his piece for whatever reason you can take the 3+4.
