day 7

did tactics trainer and puzzle rush, did badly at tactics trainer back down to 2450 ish, but got up to 31 on puzzle rush

up to exercise 350 on wood pecker

played an OTB rated game, grinded the guy down with black side of the caro for a 60+ moves game

taking a break for a day, fkn exhausted from chess, but ill do some tactics, won't time it tho, i think its better that way

2 more days to go before my tournament


my plan for tmmr (thurs) is:

1. tactics (chess.com/woodpecker/puzzle rush/aagard?)

2. one hour session with a friend (going over some hack lines)

3. repertoire work (white)

4. read some strategy stuff (maybe one of gelfands books)


my plan for fri is:

1. gym early in the morning

2. tactics (like thurs)

3. black repertoire work

4. training games with a strong FM and post-game analysis

5. sleep early!

did less than i hope, just one hour of chess.com tactics, a bunch of blitz online, then went to a state library to do Romain Edouard's calculation series that my friend bought, managed to solve a good chunk of the puzzles whereas my mate had trouble solving one, hes much higher rated and stronger than me, so I take this as a good sign that since beginning my challenge, my tactics improved alot already

the one hour session of opening work I was gonna do with a friend overseas got moved to tmmr, just one day before tournament, so I'm looking forward to a big day of chess preparation to catch up for what I missed out today!

had a two day hiatus due to OTB tournie, will post some games on here later...

spammed some chess.com tactics during a live MTT for over one and half hours, and sunk below 2400 on it, get a msg from my coach saying he doesnt wanna help me with chess anymore until my tactics is no longer trash (in his words 2.4k tactics on chess.com is club player strength due to inflation, which i agree with), also happened to bust a few places off the FT in the live MTT so that really sucked

That is quite impressive!

I am very curious how the game went from this position, because I cannot find a single way for black to lose after looking at this for about five minutes :O

Must be a hardcore coach if he doesn't want to keep a player on for having a below 2400 tactic rating on Chess.com! Seems like that would limit his students greatly if that is a requirement.
