I think this game is on the most serious category when it comes to collectible card games, but it is pretty slow compared to the faster games like Hearthstone and other CCGs.
I am not sure there is enough money in this game, while HS can be played for money also as S&Gs, just that the later developments make it more a variance game.
What sucks in all the collectible games is that you have to buy your cards and they expire every two years or whatever, so not a new player friendly and for an occasional play.
None of them come close to the potential of poker (and no collecting cards), and you are not going to face a fish playing CCGs for money.
I think the skill edge might be a bit bigger in this game than in other CCGs. But this game has its downsides also, on the luck side also.
Other card games and checkers, backgammon are better picks than CCGs, and if one picks one of them, it would be HS as it has money potential and there is no better CCG currently out, and if there is, one might take a deeper look into this game, but even then, I can think of some video games that might be better picks.
New games are coming out every year but they are there for the business so nothing will change and even the latest poker-ccg combo (for play money) needs one to collect cards (pay) to get more power.
