I'm pretty excited. He's set to give a political talk on friday about the prospects of liberal democracy in Russia, and then a talk about his match vs. Deep Blue on Saturday. there will probably be a q and a session afterwards. anyone have a good question?

Ask him how many moves he can calculate in advance.

Now, seriously: Why did he stop playing chess professionaly? He could have played on several years on a competitive level. I still don't understand his reasoning. Give up chess because of Russian politics is just stupid in my opinion.

Also, I once saw Kasparov live and I was very surprised how small he is. I had thought such a great player would look more impressive...

I would be interested in hearing Kasparovs opinion about the cunningham bet/experiment.

How good does he think a 30year old who hasnt played much chess before can become in a year? Does he think 1900 is possible?
Does he think it would be easier to teach a child?
What does he think is the best study plan for such a player?
Does he think a player starting out at a late age can improve even further and become an IM, GM or even a 2700+ player?

ask his opinion about Carlsen's future, why final position of lost game R2 vs deep blue was a draw, and tell him to say "with" instead of "whiz".

Would you care to elaborate? So you don't think Kasparov could have stayed much longer in the top ten?

do you believe kasparov could not compete at the highest levels? When kasparov retired he was still among the strongest in the world, and chess players can have amazing longevity for example Victor Korchnoi has crushed tournaments into his 70's

Indeed. Korchnois probably played his best chess from age 40 to 50.

Its a different time era today and also Kasparovs playing style (It goes the same for Fischer too btw.) demands a lot of work to stay on top.

So its not that surprising that Kasparov just like Fischer quit a bit early.

Well, using Korchoi as an example that one can play their best chess at the age of 50 is like using Carlsen as an example that Norwegians are best chess players in the world... Nobody in recent 50 years except Korchoi was able to play at the highest level in his 50s and 60s. Karpov started to decline in his mid 40s and Kasparov's aggressive style of playing requires a lot more energy.
