How to use annotated Games?

Hello, long time lurker, 3rd or 4th time poster, I'm getting back into chess and have some annotated games I'm going through atm - what ways do ppl do this - My approach was going to be 1st run through go through the game in a guess the move way - then go through the game with annotations and concentrate on the critical points/ points where my thinking differentiates.
What process do most of you guys follow?

Depends on the purpose. For training I go over the game move by move, trying to identify key ideas and moves associated with them and work out some variations which I write down. The purpose is, as you say, to see where your thinking differentiates from the commenter. For fun i just play through them on a board and look at everything I deem interesting.
