Quite frankly, modern computers are so good that not even the best players in the world would have a chance of winning a single game against them. That being said, working with computers is a pretty good way to improve your tactics since they are merciless when it comes to exploiting tactical errors.
If you're talking about relatively weaker computers like the chess program that comes with Mac computers, the key to beating them is to go for positions where you slowly build up an attack without allowing short-term tactical chances.
