How much are you willing to bet? When I was living back in Europe, we used to get together with my friends every week and play bughouse for hours - two of them became European vice-champions in bughouse a year or so ago.

No, probably not. I never really got in to play bughouse online, I prefer life much much more

1805 on ICC long games. Haven't played properly since I was 11 tho

I used to be 22xx on FICS when I didn't know poker existed, 24xx or so on ICC. I know KingDan, vassil, and chesskid1 also had high bughouse ratings.

Then you would probably kick my ass, I know one of those friends of mine that I mentioned above was about 2200+ on FICS, and he was sick in bughouse I guess I would be around 2000, maybe 2100 at best then..

Have to confess to having had no clue what bughouse was until I Googled it just now. I remember playing that once in a while many years ago, I think we called it Siamese chess. Hell of a lot of fun.

Gallagher is "really" (or originally) English, no? He said enough to out himself a few times--username gazza, and he was a very active poster in limit 6-max. But last time I checked he'd been gone for a few years (though it doesn't feel that long to my old aging self...)

I mean I'm just clarifying if there are any high rated players who are actually very active members of the forum. There are obviously a minimum of 50 GM's who are or have been lurkers and posted a few times, and probably more. I'm sure one of the top 10 players in the world has glanced at the forum at least once, while someone in the top 50 has actually made 10-20 posts. Who wins between them? Obviously no one really cares, but it's a near certainty that Grischuk has at least visited 2+2.

Curtains is certainly the highest-rated player I've seen post here knowing who he is.

Joe Gallagher would indeed almost certainly have posted here in the past, he was one of the first chess professionals to get (really) good at poker.

I think hes simply making the point that if we include people who logged on to the forum once or twice, the question simply becomes name the highest Rated Chess Player. Counting people who have lurked occasionaly is insane. A true 2+2er has made thousands of posts, got banned, and came back for a 2nd round for thousands more

He hasn't played in ages, but the guy who taught me poker before meeting Stevepa was DragonSlayer(or something similar, when I knew him he was playing as evanescence) back in the day, as of 2006 I think he was the 2nd highest rated bughouse player of all time. Dunno if he ever posted here or just lurked

I dont wanna name names cuz i dont know the guy personally but i heard a quebec GM quit chess to play poker (not sure if this is rly true since its been such a long time). I also know a guy that goes to my school that plays 1/2 nl and his rating is about 2200-2300 CFC

hmm when i was like 14-15 i was into fics bug pretty serious but i think highest i got was 2100-2200..... I remember playing about 200 games of bughouse in 1 day lol I remember both the names dragonslayr and evanescence ... i remember playing with and against evanescence but not sure i played with dragonslayr.

I would clearly give the title to Curtains. I recall playing on a team vs him on 2p2 a few years ago (the game was eventually drawn). Naka is an active poker player but I don't believe he is a 2 + 2 member.
