[don't read the comments before attempting the problem!]

White King Kd4, a6, h2
Black King has taken on Kc6, d6, g5

White to play and Win.

2 Kings, 2 pawns each. This came from an OTB game I played.

Enjoy!

The pawn ending you posted earlier certainly helped with this one

I stared at this/played with it for 5 minutes before I realized that the puzzle starts AFTER Kxc6. Slightly different problem now!

Hahaha, same here. For about 5 mins I thought "why not just retreat the bishop?"...so confused.

lol, I always look to banzai first, so a7 was my move. Then I read some of the comments and he said that a7 was a draw, and there went 2 more minutes of wtf. Hey, at least it gets us thinking, even if it's for all the wrong reasons!

Silly me for thinking the 2 Kings, 2 pawns each and K takes c6 would clarify!

Hey, never assume your audience can read and/or think for themselves!

Yeah, I know I misread chess notation pretty regularly. then I spend 5-25 mins trying to figure out why a 'balanced' position is an easy win. Or think it's White to Play when it's black's turn in a GM game.
