So how much of their time is spent thinking of the best move and how much is spent thinking, "Is it time to offer a draw?"

Draw or not, a Caro-Kann with early h4 made me happy.

has there been a classical caro with 2 super gms that didn't end in a draw in the past 30 years?

Any gossip about the mystery team of Magnus' seconds? Before the match, team Anand was announced as Leko, Wojtaszek, Sasikiran and Chanda whereas Magnus remained tight-lipped. Heine Nielsen is there at least, also Hammer I guess?

gossip update from the chesspub forum: "Carlsen's entourage: Hammer and Fressinet, his parents and his sisters " + Heine is not in since he was on team Anand in the Kramnik match (and felt it would be wrong to switch sides i guess)

2 games in and chess is dead already (again).

I think we all overreact because we're understimulated by the World Chess scene in the last few years, or possibly longer. The last match that had any real interest was 2010, and even then it was just because people didn't want Topalov and Danailov to win the title.

In the decades before, we had Unification battles and controversy, humans vs. machines, and pretty much everything Fischer did. Unfortunately Anand, at this age, simply gives the impression that he doesn't care. Combine that with Kramnik and Aronian very rarely showing any emotion or speaking, and the whole Gelfand match...and I think we're just begging for someone to give a ****.

I think when or if Magnus wins this match, we'll see a lot more interest in the game, both from the chess community and the mainstream. At the very least, in addition to winning the World Title, there can be the chase for 2900 as well. But it would also help if Magnus would show a little more emotion himself.

I would assume if they wanted secrecy about their second's they prolly have a very strong GM who is not in India Skyping and video conferencing preparation for Magnus.

Given that most of the Indian press gang would be sifting for Anands camp - I doubt if the Magnus camp had a strong GM that they wanted kept secret - that player never comes to India let alone Chennai.

I mean what odds that the queen would end up at h1 with this setup!

I think black has to be objectively better.
