I'm interested to see people's favorite master+ level chess games. My favorite is Ivanchuk vs. Kasparov 1991 Linares:

My comments on the game would be meaningless, as I'm not a strong player, but I greatly enjoy the thorough dismantling job by Ivanchuk in this game. If anyone knows where Kasparov went wrong in this game, I'd be interested to see it.

Practically anything by Alekhine. He has so many incredibly beautiful games. I love how his moves always seem so completely natural and even simple, but so often culminated in devastating attacks seemingly out of nowhere.

I suppose for aesthetics, I like Alekhine - Saemisch Berlin 1923. One minor inaccuracy by Saemisch and the creativity of Alekhine dismantles him. What makes the combination really impressive is that it was a blindfolded game.

IMHO that was a very memorable game and 23. c5! was a nice clearance
sacrifice. How often does Kasparov end up with such a "hideous position"
as somebody remarked?

If only Ivanchuk weren't so reflective and had his head in the clouds, he
could be a world champion or near the top (he's likely to be 2nd or 3rd on
the next rating list). He often spends about ten minutes looking at the
"other games" while his clock is running and still "flags" when he could just
simply find any move! He played well at Linares this year (2nd on tiebreak
behind Grischuk) which was a pretty disappointing tournament for Anand
(and maybe also for Carlsen for blundering a won position in the penultimate
round against Radjabov).

I don't really have any favorite grandmaster game, since there's so many
excellent examples in the Informator ("informant") of the ten best games of
the issue.

I always liked this game from the Fischer-Spasskij match in 72'

http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1128889

When I started out playing I couldn't figure the ending out but thought it was aesthetically pleasing. Still do. Remember reading Kasparovs analysis on this game and he said Fischer missed easier decisive advantage somewhere in the middlegame and let Spasskij into the game again with a nice sacrifice. The 10th game of this match is also nice.

The finish is gorgeous, and it used to be my favorite game, but once I figured out that it wasn't forced it became a little less interesting to me.

That's a "classic"! I used to remember the game score by heart, but don't
remember it now.

Here's the Wikipedia link:

Sure, there are a plethora of mistakes, but it's quite entertaining.

I've always liked this game (Petrosian-Spassky, 1966 WC match, game 10). I'm a bad player and I haven't analyzed it or anything, I just think it's pretty.

I very much like the game Averbach - Kotov from the famous 1953 Candidates tournament in Zürich. Kotov sacrifices his queen to drag the white King to his side of the board and mate him there.
