Dynamic Chess Strategy by Mihai Suba

Has anyone read this book? I recently received a copy as a gift and am wondering if it's worth the time to read it. From what I can tell flipping through it, it's pretty densely packed with variations and would take some time to really digest.

I haven't read it myself, but GM Kevin Spraggett said it was one of the most important strategy books ever written.

I have the book (yes I do have a lot of chess books), it's definitely worth reading.

Cool, thanks man. Definitely going to give it a shot. I really haven't heard any bad things about it.

Related question: how much do y'all think instructional books (not counting game collection books) help? I've heard people mention playing and analyzing annotated GM game collections were their main method of improvement, with little instructional book help such as HTRYC by Silman or Suba's book, for example.

I read the Suba book a long time ago but I seem to remember it being pretty good.

But to respond to your supplementary question I think that the only problem with instructional books is finding one that suits your level. The Dvoretsky books are amazing but but probably too advanced for a lot of players. It's a little bit like books on openings, some find them useful others would probably only use about 1/10th of the content.

IMO it's probably more useful to study well annotated games.
