ChessCube has come out with 'Warzone Chess'. It's a kind of tournament, and when it starts, it becomes like rush poker where you play one game and when you're done you get immediately shipped off to the next game. Time odds are given based on rating differential and it's just all vs. all, no rating classes. The goal is to win as many games as possible before the tournament ends, so simply getting more games in than your opponents is part of the strategy, encouraging not only fast play but also aggressive play to try and win quickly.
It sounds like pure degen chess and it's a pretty cool idea. Not sure exactly how they figure out the time odds. Hoping to try it tonight.
edit: hmmm you have to finish a game at a time? this sucks if you get paired against a lower rated player with tons of time and he stalls it all off :s gief true rush chess
Sounds beyond completely ******ed as a tourney format.. and if you just want to play blitz games, play blitz games. A degen tourney format would be like a 10x10 set of simuls (everybody playing everybody) with like 5-10s/move, where only one board displays at a time, you have 5-10s to make your move, then go to another board if ready, repeat, etc.
Just tried it and it crashed on me (1 min: the doubling thing caused a crash on the screen and I could see the ongoing game, but couldn't get past the doubling screen)
Also, the way chesscube plays out, i.e. the pre-moves are bad, and it's not really for fast games like playchess.com is...I really don't think the format suits chesscube. Also, the doubling thing is terrible for 1min, because it takes like 3/4 seconds to do that and you can't really afford those 3/4 seconds when playing 1min chess.

There's never any absolute time added to the game. For example, if one player has a 400 point rating advantage, and it's a 3-minute game, then the clocks might become 3m30sec vs. 2m30sec
