I don't see how (theoretical) solvability by computers takes away from the compexity of chess, after all computers were designed to solve complex tasks like this. Chen & Ankenman outlined how poker can be solved too, no matter if it's deep stack PL or whatever, it just hasn't evolved far enough yet.

Also, on a more anectodal note:

I know several people who devoted a lot of time to chess and poker, and play both competitively on a relatively high standard. NONE of those thinks poker even comes close in terms of complexity to chess. Punter is definitely right that most people who argue otherwise haven't played chess beyond casual coffeehousing.

This is the chess sub-forum variant of the ´IQ and Poker´ question popped already hundreds of times on the other sub-fora and always leading to the same predictable debates, arguments and comparisons.

One might as well ask about the relation between stock car racing and poker (concentration and quick reactions), being good in the sack and poker (excelling at heads-up and having a feel for when to go all-in) or the ability to build a decent doghouse and poker (tilt control and perseverance).
