You've seen any? If yes, post their results here! I am obviously talking about at least somewhat strong players, not amateur level. Here is a quote from one website that does live reporting:

Ivey In Action

On a board of {A-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} and with over 6,500 in the pot Almiria Skripchenko checks it over to Phil Ivey. Ivey makes a bet of 5,225, leaving himself with about 5,000 behind. Skripchenko thinks for about thirty seconds before throwing her hand into the muck.

Ivey takes the pot and is up to 16,225.

I assume this is the famous French woman chess player, anyone can confirm?

edit: her name is misspelled, it's actually Almira AFAIK.

She is a sponsored pro on the French site 'Winamax' as well (not that that necessarily means much!)

David Williams decided he'd rather play in a Magic tournament than the WSOP this year. He said last year he was at the WSOP wishing he was playing Magic.

A few years ago Radu Butan was featured quite a bit at the TV table in the main event (I think he got busted by Fossilman in a weirdo hand where they got all in, both said to each other "you're ahead" because they were both drawing, and Fossilman won). He was a very strong junior in Canada.

And how is that relevant to the Q asked?

Cue "Which game is more complex? Chess or Magic?" Thread.

I'm curtains sister Jennifer and I'm playing the Main Event. Also played the Ladies: http://jennifershahade.com/site/2009/06/16/from-vegas-to-aq-in-ac/ And yes, Almira Skripchenko is definitely at the WSOP playing a bunch of events. I also think that IM Drasko Boskovic (with two GM norms) will play the Main Event, not sure who else but I'm sure there will be a lot more titled players lurking.

Thanks for the info. I know Draks, but I was under an impression that he is solely cash player these days, good to know he will play the ME. Also, while reading the live coverage of Event #40, the 10k buy-in World Championship of Pot Limit Omaha, I saw that Alexander Grischuk has made it in to day 2 but has a little bit below average stack. I am pretty sure it has to be THAT A.Grischuk, right?

eli adler has about 600k in the main event at the moment. the coverage last year mentioned that he was a very good chess player and had won a national scholastic championship in 3rd grade.

not exactly notable, but he has a big stack in the ME so here you go

it appears that Jennifer Shahade (Curtains' sister and cover girl of this month's Chess Life) didn't make it thru day 2 - out of the remaining names she listed, I don't know who has made it thru day 3 besides Harrington -

You're right NOT notable.

He quit chess (no over the board tournaments) in 1995 after Nationals and retired with a USCF rating of 1217. Yes he did win grade nationals in 3rd grade, woopty doo.

I saw him on an ESPN coverage of some event (maybe main event from 2007, I forget) and the way the hosts talk about him, I thought he was a strong master of 2300-2400 rating. I'm sure the majority of the viewing public thought that Eli Adler was a strong chess player and most likely a master. Instead, he's some "1217" who hasn't played competitive chess since 1995. Quite the joke, If I were him I wouldn't want ESPN to even mention that. He's not a real chess player imo by any means.
