Sorry if a thread like this already exists! I'm a USCF 2000 player who dabbles in poker a bit and would be very interested in seeing a comprehensive list of players (and learning their stories) who kick serious ass at both poker and chess.

Of course, the Allen Cunningham thread inspired this, but I'll start with listing a few players I know of:

Dan Harrington - Author, two WSOP bracelets, crazy good at chess (2355 USCF).

Ylon Schwartz - dude is like 2300 USCF and placed 4th in the 2008 WSOP. Also just won a WSOP bracelet, taking down the $1500 HORSE event for over 250k

Jeff Sarwer - Former child prodigy with an extremely fascinating life story.

GM Matthias Wahls was one of the founders of pokerstrategy.com so he quite literally owned something

btw is that the same Dan Harrington? I have a vague memory that there were two people with the same name but I'm not at all sure about this.

I'm not sure about there being two Dan Harringtons, but am pretty confident that the Dan Harrington who won the two WSOP bracelets is an accomplished chess player as well: http://danharringtonpoker.com/dan-ha...l-life-career/

I can't judge curtains' proficiency at the pokers, but he is an IM.

Also, several GMs have apparently been playing poker, at least they used to when it was easy money. Grischuk and Gustafsson come to mind. And Almira Skripchenko (not a GM, but still...).

GM Rustem Dautov has become quite a big guy at pokerstrategy.com too.

Roland Schmaltz (better known as bullet "world champion" hawkeye) played midstakes LHE on party poker as GMHawkeye back in 2007-2008.

Not quite owning but Stewart Reuben used to be president of the British Chess Federation but was an even stronger Omaha player - think he wrote couple of books on it.
