Dunno if you missed it but Magnus pretty much came out on coverage (and doubled down on Twitter) saying Rajabov was scared of playing the Candidates and used corona as an excuse

The chess/money politics of the 1993-200? period makes it difficult, for me, to really have much engagement with the strongest players of that time. I really have no idea how future people will regard even Kramnik and Anand (let alone the tourney winners). Prior to that essentially every champion was a huge personality (*cough* Euwe *cough*). But, obviously, Magnus being on youtube all of the time, being Dr Drunkenstein etc etc brings him much closer to us,

Radjabov was the only one in all of this with the ****ing foresight to see what would happen. If he isn't included in this event when it resumes then he should sue FIDE for +millions and bankrupt them.

First day of the Magnus Invitational happened, and it's looking like an honestly exciting time for chess. Very excited to see how Alireza will do after beating Magnus in their most recent confrontation in the Banter Blitz Cup. Rooting for Magnus to find a hold vs this insanely tough field.
