Chess Forum Noob- White to move in a big mess Chess Forum Noob- White to move in a big mess

This is from a "chess with friends" game against a player I've beat several times. I obviously got cocky and have found myself in quite a conundrum!

This is also my first post in the chess forum and if this kind of thing should go elsewhere please move it. Also sorry in advance for the mixed notation. I'll get back in the swing of things eventually.

The opponent wouldn't resign a hopelessly lost position in our last game, and he really "won't let me" resign in this spot. So I must play on! Villain is certainly capable of a mid to late game blunder...

What to do?

hxg4 then Bxg4

Rf1 then Qh4 yuck

Qxd4 QxQ h3xN c6xB and we are way down on material but survive the onslaught??

Is this the current position of your game, or is the game over/moved on?

Oh, also:

Then it's unethical for us to give you any comments on the current position. We can help later once it's over or moved on enough that what we say can have no bearing on what you do.

But please to return to let us know how it turns out.

Ha. That must be in the stickies I've failed to read.

However, assuming you know what you are talking about, and you must be given that you made that comment, I must have a chance.

What kind of ****tardation is "won't let me resign"? Play hxg4 and find a non-idiotic place to play.

OP didn't say that the game wouldn't let him resign, but his opponent won't let him.

I'm not sure if it's in the stickies, but it's just a general rule for chess players everywhere unless both sides have agreed to otherwise. Now you know.

In none of my comments did I intend to imply that you did or did not have a chance based on the position on the board.

This doesn't make any sense. If the opponent has to approve resignation, it's a ******ed system. If the opponent doesn't have to approve it, but he'd be a ****stick IRL or something, then resign anyway and kick him in the nuts and tell him to quit being a ****stick. I still don't get it.

He said it was a "chess with friends" game. I don't think it's that rare in a casual/friendly game for the player with the advantage to say "don't resign, let's play this out and see what happens." Much more common among weak players than strong players, but not particularly rare in social chess.

You could always just play hxg4 and let him mate you, seeing as you seemed to have missed that in your OP
