Interesting question. My first thought was that it is not necessary because the + distinguishes the two moves.

However, I looked it up in the Laws of Chess (Appendix C).
C.13 states: "It is not mandatory to record the check [...] on the scoresheet." I think this means you would have to write the file to.

Maybe we should bring this problem to the attention of Geurt Gijssen to get a definite answer... His column is one of my favourites on ChessCafe.

heh I tried inserting the following pgn into the player I typically use...

1. d4 d5 2. Nc3 Kd7 3. e3 Kc6 4. Bd2 Kb6 5. h3 Ka5 6. Ne2+

It understood it but also changed it to include the file disambiguation itself.

Something like 14. Qd2 and the plan of Bf6, Qh6 and mate looks already difficult to parry without giving up any chances for an attack himself.
He just kept giving me pawns and I figured I might as well snatch them all up. Not really sure what he was thinking there, but I was happy to see it. Just wish I hadn't messed it up.

EDIT: On an unrelated note, what's with people accepting a game on chess.com then disappearing? Two days in a row I've put out a seek, had someone accept, then not play a move. Yesterdays game was aborted because the person didn't play a single move, and I'm still waiting on the person who accepted my seek today to respond. Okay, so it's only been like 90 minutes tonight, but still, I'm ready to get the show on the road.

I'll play some correspondence games on chess.com with you. Here is a nice little tidbit of information, french players love playing against the advance variation.

Thanks, that's helpful. I'll try something else when I come across it next.

I don't think anything tilts me worse in chess than having a completely won game against someone rated higher and losing due to blunders in time pressure. Such a sick feeling.

I play correspondence on RedHotPawn and am in a 21 days per move + 21 days timeout banded tournament. We are on round one with 2 games left to be finished and the tournament started late January 2010

I was wondering if anyone was knowledgeable with 1970s, 80s, 90s vinyl records.

I've decided to sell the collection I have and I just typed up the whole list and I have about 500 records.

I pulled the Beatles White Album (I have 2 copies) because I know that's popular and sorta rare.

I'm asking if anyone would want to glance over the list for me and would be able to tell me if something is rare. Thus I wouldn't include those items in a package to sell to a record shop guy (I located one from craigslist that I'm going to call).

If someone can help me out, I'd be more than happy to look over some of their games, analyze and post them, or go over some chess on FICS (for free obv).

Just send me a PM on here I guess and I'll send you the list. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Also if anyone has an idea of what I should accept money-wise for 500~ albums?

Note: Almost all of the albums are in MINT condition and never were played.

I have about 100 of these myself. A guy at a record store wanted to give me 50 cents a piece for them, and only for the albums he wanted, which I had to laugh at.

I sold a bunch on ebay, in lots based on the artist. I think I got about $50 for 4 Pink Floyd and $40 for 4 Led Zep albums. I sold some at a garage sale. I've been lazy about selling the rest. They can be hit or miss on ebay. One auction I had a bunch of Black Sabbath albums, and they sold for $9. The guy didn't pay, so I re-listed it, and they went for $30 the second time.

Thanks for responding TimM.

I just registered on ebay and I'll be searching the completed listings for the items to see what they've been selling for.

This is an EXTREMELY thin and lame brag, but I hit 1900 standard rating on ICC today. I've never hit 1900 in any rating category so I'm pretty excited. More than anything it's good to know that studying and playing is actually helping.

Haha, I'll take what I can get. Please don't play any standard games so my rating remains higher haha.

Cause I don't really like playing there all that much.

Brag: Broke 1500 on chess.emrald.net for first time.

Beat: Job was interfering with chess time last few weeks.

Variance: Quit job
