I also get that vibe from him. He likes to hear himself talk. His videos are way too long. And I hate his accent and how he says "free" instead of three.

That said, it's hard to complain about any chess vidz on yt. It reminds me of when people complained about the free coffee where i worked. But still i usually shut his off after a couple minutes.

I think there are a couple guys who do videos on this channel the other guy is good if I remember correctly I'm just talking about the British dude

I have one problem with CE - he's a mental game whale, keeps obsessing over his past mistakes during the game (when he should be thinking about the current position and put the mistake analysis off for the postmortem). That's the opposite of what I'd like to strive for as a poker player.

I just watched the chessexplained video on refuting the Latvian Gambit, which I play on occasion as Black. Informative and well explained, but I can't imagine watching his videos for entertainment.

I like MatoJelic. His videos are short, consistent, well-explained, and are sometimes funny. He doesnt go into deep analysis like others but he does a great job simply presenting the match.

haha yep was going to post this.

for entertainment i haven't seen anything that comes close to chessnetwork. if i'm sitting down to eat dinner and there's a new 30 min bullet tourney to watch, i'm instantly a very happy person.

A big portion of ChessNetwork's videos are unwatchable for me due to that insanely annoying mouse tic of his. John Bartolomew's live videos are the best on average -- he's engaging without being abrasive -- but ChessExplained's best is better. For some reason he seems to be a magnet for hilarious nonsense, and it's funny when he steams. I BLUNDERED THE BLOODY ROOK. *hits table* ChessExplained's instructional content is better, too, although his supertournament recaps are boring because they are too heavy in engine analysis.

zippy's human greg shahade makes good videos imo. sometimes zippy himself will stop by and analyze the game.

There's a ton of it in the first minute of the video, starting at 0:25. I personally can't stand it at all.

Typical KC annoying crap here: https://www.reddit.com/r/chess/comme...c_autopairing/

He comes up with a "brilliant idea" that literally destroys the entire concept of the ICC auto-pairing pools, calls it possibly totally revolutionary, insults the first legitimate criticizer of the idea by implying they are not a serious player, just etc etc. He does this crap all the time on reddit and elsewhere. Also of note was the "strawpoll" he posted in that thread with the three voting options of "Great idea," "Good idea," and "Bad idea."

ok so you just mean him waving the mouse around to show potential moves? that's a genuine question as i'm still not sure i'm totally getting it.

he does the right click arrow now on lichess quite a bit, which you may find more acceptable

White (hero) to move
This game is from the Hawaii Warriors Invitational Round 1. Villain went on vacation giving me a lot of time to work out the line. The game is finished (I learned my lesson).

Spoiler:
13. Qc2 Chess.com premium computer analysis (2500?) tags me with 3 Inaccuracies: = 18.8% of moves and one mistake (14. Qxc6+?).
I disagree since Qxc6 leads to forced mate.

Made it to top-10 in lichess Racing Kings! Much more impressive imo

Beat: the rating list doesn't seem to get updated in real time. Maybe it's daily? Looks like I should be comfortably #6 though.

It's updated every 15 minutes. Got to #2, 31 points to go to #1!

I got to #1 but then lost a game to give it back. Now someone else has raced 100 points clear to 2164, so it will be hard to get that back.

4NCL report:

Beat: playing a 2350 FM with black
Brag: fought back from a bad opening to generate an attack
Beat:after turning the attack maybe decisive, blundered badly
Brag: found a stunning rook sacrifice to force a perpetual
Beat: took the perpetual instead of playing a (maybe? haven't really checked with computer yet) winning line that was available
Variance: apparently he's on 2+2

Black to move. I played Rh2-Rh1-Rh2 for perpetual
