Live analysis on Chess.fm is quite good and enjoyable.

Shipov is analysing a game every round, in English on Chessintranslation.com.

The live transmission on Chessdom comes with engine evaluation and 2700+ commentary (Naiditsch, Bacrot and others).

Also, the video stream (HD) on russiachess.org is a must, imo.

I've never seen "six pawns for a rook" before.

yeah but I'm finding it really laggy ie they move on the board and discuss it about 2 seconds later making it really hard to follow at times.

Gelfand's game today was incredible. One of the most exciting games I've seen in a while. Almost makes me want to play the Sicilian...

There was a nice hidden combination in Radjabov - Kramnik. During the game I wondered why he didn't play the natural 23...Rac8, but instead 23...Rfc8. It turns out that after Rac8 there is the rook sacrifice 24. Rxg7+ that just wins.

Topalov - Kamsky is at move 16 right now and it seems to me that Kamsky is in a lot of trouble, I would even say borderline lost. What are the commentators/engines saying? I don't have a luxury to access either of those atm

I never seen this chessbomb website and im glad I found it mentioned earlier in this thread. Anyways after move 23 the engine gives +.08 so basically even.

dude, Kamsky blundered around move 38 and Topalov should have had him but he blundered trying to stop Kamsky's counterplay - in the end Topalov had to settle for perpetually checking Kamsky's exposed king to get a draw - each player whiffled but Topalov lost a bigger edge when he blundered

Now ask me if I feel bad

though in all fairness, I guess Kamsky's dad used to be able to give Silvio a run for his money in the pain in the ass dept.

so in the 1st round dogs beat favorites, except Kramnik v Rajabov. Vlad has a lot of luck tho.

Kramnik looks in bad shape imo. He didn't get anywhere with white against an uninspired Radjabov although they played almost the whole match on Kramnik's home ground in terms of openings. But maybe Grischuk will hang himself against him by trying to be more active, who knows.

Pretty soulcrushing for Radja to go out the way he did. He crushed game 1 of the first pair of blitz games, then in game 2 in a somewhat easily drawn position Kramnik's time ran out in a time scramble (due to the DGT clock breaking down if I understood right), after some Russian style hand waving and general confusion the game is restored --> Radja plays terribly and loses. Didn't recover too well and played badly in the last two.

My predictions for the semi-finals:

Grischuk - Kramnik

Should be an interesting match. Grischuk has the chance to finally make good on his potential, while Kramnik wants to prove that he still deserves to be at the top of world chess.

I doubt Grischuk's openings are strong enough to beat Kramnik in the classical match, but if it reaches the rapid, Grischuk should have the edge. All in all, I think Kramnik should be about a 2-1 favourite.

Kamsky - Gelfand

Gelfand seems to be very well-prepared for this event, while Kamsky's opening preparation, especially with White, looks shaky at best. But I think Kamsky is the stronger player and he has been very successful in match play in the past. I think Kamsky is about a 3-2 favourite.

I think Grischuk is the favorite, Kramnik looked very lacklustre. Agree with the second assessment.

That should get an easy renewal of Kramink's endorsement of DGT clocks

Not what happened. The clock just turned off/broke during radja's move when radja had 10 sec left while kramnik still had 20ish. There was a 15 min adjournment and they fixed the clock.

I think Kamsky will beat Gelfand,he is just a Killer in Chess matches. He said this would be different than the last time he played Topalov and he was right.

Kramnik it seems he does not have the passion he once had for Chess.I think he will beat Grischuk in the end though.

Nobody thinks the DGT clock reset is at least a little suspicious? Maybe is something quite common but i have never seen something like that before.

happened to me in a league game too, suddenly the clock went out. From what i heard, that's quite common with DGT clocks because the battery contacts are not strong enough. If the clock is punched during blitz, it might suddenly lose contact and resets itself immediately after the electrical current is restored.

At an open tournament, i also did have a DGT clock that ran around 20% too fast, we reached time control in a frantic scramble and only after one clock went down to <20 min again (we played 2h/40 moves + 30 min) Ajezz, standing behind me, pointed out that the seconds were ticking down too quickly. We had never noticed that no one around had been in time trouble .

DGTs aren't ideal for blitz ... and this might be the best example of it.
The bad thing for Radjabov's perspective is that he played Kf6 (the losing move) just as the clock died.
Whether Kramnik would have seen the winning idea with the 20 seconds remaining at the time is another question, but with a 10 minute break to fix the clock, Kramnik knew exactly what to do when play resumed.

Perhaps this will be another reason to add to the list of reasons to change the world championship qualification method. I mean seriously ... is a win in a blitz game really indicative of someone who would be a good opponent for a world championship match?

Looks like Kamsky didn't get much out of the opening as White. Kramnik seems to have gotten what he wanted, a very slightly worse boring position as Black
