Spassky was an amazing player, one of the best of playing every type of position well. Very worrisome news...

Terrible news, perhaps the finest gentleman among the great chessplayers, and it's unfortunately overlooked how great a player he was. He was very poorly served by both Fischer and the Soviet bureaucrats, although I believe he is now rightfully considered a hero in Russia.

I hope he makes a full recovery, or else does not linger in a badly diminished state.

Spassky is our times´ Paul Keres, only this time he did become world champion.
