sup guys, SOC is a great game but you need to gather a few players which is troublesome imo and people gets pissed when they are beaten. im looking to buy shadows over camelot because it supports single player, anyone tried it before?

I started playing Euro boardgames with Settlers of Catan in 1995, and have been playing them ever since.

The real place you want to look for information on them is Board Game Geek.

As far as Shadows over Camelot, it's a fun co-op game. I've never played it single player, but have played it 8 or 10 times. You may also like Pandemic or Lord of the Rings, both similar cooperative games. Of the 3, I like Shadows over Camelot the best.

And if your people are such sore losers that they get pissed, then perhaps you should find a new group to play with. Or start with teaching them some sportsmanship.

This is great, you can play online at Jsettlers and also AsoBrain. I have accounts at both but only play on AsoBrain now as the games are faster/interface slicker.

oh yeah man, i found that site and introduced it to my friends, but they werent too keen about jsettlers, most prolly coz of the ugly interface lol.

but great huh? dont have to spend money and no set up without leaving the house. but bad for bonding lol

Well it's a lot more "fun" to play with people you know, and Jsettlers has dog ugly interface.

AsoBrain is a lot more fun (better interface) and most of the games are 3-handed and typically only take 15-25 minutes. They also fully implement seafarers and C&K. Better than solitaire imo.

Brettspielwelt is pretty good for German boardgames in general, though afair the interface for Settlers isn't very intuitive.

Does anyone have any interest in getting a 2+2 clan on asobrain settlers? Also if you haven't checked it out yet, dj sensei has a training vid of settlers on deuces cracked

Yes I am very interested in playing Settlers on AsoBrain. I played about a hundred games of Cities and Knights on there and loved the interface. Been about four months since I have played my last game though.

Also does anyone play Power Grid or Dominion on BSW?

I play on http://www.playcatan.com/ on a 60 day free trial atm, really happy with the interface and will probs buy membership when it runs out.

Fun game but not great for competition I don't think

The skill ceiling is really low and once you've reached it, you're basically just fighting with other players over like an extra 0.8% chance to win

(which would be fine if matches were decided by best-of-9999s, but they aren't)
