Since, there not many poker players on there I was thinking I could use some help explaining poker to some novices.

In case you are interested. I think there were some unfair accusations made about poker and how it takes no skill, so I figured I would come to the first forum on poker I frequented when I started and find some chess/poker players to help me build a bridge of diplomacy. either way, thank you for your time.
GC, you are the first person I've come across anywhere who is trying to do what I also want to do: build a bridge between chess and poker players. You mentioned a bridge of "diplomacy", but I'm even more ambitious. I want chess and poker players to come together in COMPETITION.
Another poster here mentioned that you would probably have to invent "chess poker". Yes! And believe it or not, that is exactly what I have done. I spent 6 to 7 years inventing it and figuring out the rules of play. Now it's complete and I am documenting it for filing a patent. In the meantime, I am creating a prototype web application using HTML5 and Javascript that I will use as a demo to attract investors.
My game (not called "chess poker" but a name I thought up) will bring chess and poker players together to each utilize their particular skills, because this new game involves both betting and chess play. It is played between 2 players only. I am also formulating a format for the web page to document each step of any match, so that it can be replayed and studied just like chess. Eventually -- say 2 years from now -- the game will be played at brick and mortar locations, and each table will have a dealer and a game notator. Each hand might take 30 minutes max to complete (but would usually be 10 to 15 minutes, could even be much less), and a match should take a maximum of 20-some hands. With a 15 minute average per hand, this would be 5 to 6 hours per match if it went to maximum number of hands. Which is about the average length of a chess game, so tournaments would be run over weekends like chess tournaments. They would not be Swiss-style as in chess, but elimination: you lose and you're out.
I should also mention: the chess portion will involve one addition to the chess rules that will make chess engines useless at this game for years into the future. That means the chess part cannot be won by cheating using an engine, and this means the entire game can be played online for real money.
Would you be interested in being an investor or a working partner? If there's a way here that you can PM me, do so and we can get a real discussion going. This goes for anyone else who is interested in either investing or becoming a working partner. We will soon need REAL web developers to go beyond a mere demo.
It's going to happen: chess and poker players will be brought together and compete for prizes and fame! May the best skill set win!
