I read what you wrote multiple times but I still can't see what you're on about or how engines got brought into this. Its pretty clear that black's position is just falling apart in those lines he gave so he plays a different move order to try and avoid letting white's knights get so frisky.

jewbinson - some people (most people who post on this forum, in fact) are a lot stronger than you at chess. Looking 3 virtually forced moves ahead is entirely reasonable for an 1800, never mind a 2400. This isn't the first time you've suggested people are using computers because they've seen a trivially short distance ahead, don't do it again.

DIR - jewbinson says a lot of weird things, check his other posts

Sorry, was at the tournament the past week. Can't get our schedules right it seems.

Anyway...This endgame is starting me to remind me of the Reti (I think it was Reti?)-Alekhine game where Alekhine won a nice game in the similar type of an endgame (not many pawns, queens off, light pieces on).

I originally planned 21...Nxa5 but realizing my opponent couldn't have possibly missed it, I looked at it longer to find 22. Rxa5 b6 23. Nb5! Ra8 24. Rxa6! Rxa6 25. Nxa6 Bxa6 26. Nc7 Bc8 27. Bf4 with similar plan I posted few moves ago (Bf4-d6-e7-p.d5-d6) which white should be winning.

White is still a lot better after b6.

Protip gained from the valenzuela-kyle game: use the "With link back to position" option when posting. On the next move you can use that link to get the previous position and quickly update.

If you do that, you might need to be careful with the coordinates. Here's an old post of mine that should help you deal with that.

After clicking on the board I provide (another aside, you can copy the link of the board as just an image or as an image/link as I do so the diagram doesn't have to be generated from scratch each time), you click:
1) Clear board (take the pieces off)
2) Flip board (to flip the coordinates around)
3) Initial board (to put the pieces back on the board)
4) Flip board (to flip the pieces and coordinates together to show from the white side)

And then go ahead and make your move. It's not a big deal now, but if we get to an endgame it could otherwise be confusing.
I don't recall if this needed to be done by both sides or not, but I remember doing it a lot.

If you keep going back to your own most recently posted board, you don't have to change the coordinates each time (presuming they were right then).

Spoiler:
Spoilt for choice here. I think my position is improving fast, possibly close to winning now. Annoying how there still isn't a clear plan in sight so I'm confused every move Options:
24.Nb5; Don't see anything better than going back to c7 after a8. Since this game is already taking forever I won't repeat for the viewers' sake (might be worth it to see if he goes 24.Nb5 Ra8 25.Rc7 Rb8, dunno)
24.Re7 activates pieces further, does seem rather promising though I don't see anything concrete after Rd8
24.Be3 seems to threaten Na4 and 24.- Nbd5 25.Nxd5 Nxd5 26.Rad1 looks pretty good
24.N5xa6 depends on whether the d-pawn drops after 24.-Bxa6 25.Rxa6 (not Nxa6 Rfa8) Rxa6 26.Nxa6 Rd8. Looks like it might drop - would still be a little better for White.
My fifth option 24.Bg5 somehow felt right to me from the moment I started considering it. It introduces new unpleasantries for Black such as doubling the f-pawns (duh) for some more targets and some Be7 potential. It also keeps my options open for now. I'd really hate to be Black here, have trouble finding ideas for him (24.-Rd8 25.Rd1, 24.-Nfd5 25.Nxd5 (for example) Nxd5 26.Rad1, 24.-Nh5+ just seems useless and so on)
Let's see how he defends.

Spoiler:
I really like smilingbill's comments because they're so easy to identify with. The hardest positions to play are those where you have a clear advantage without a decisive, concrete way to win. I'm sure we've all played countless positions in which our advantage begins to slowly evaporate and we're left in a equal ending but still play under the assumption that we're better. Slowly but surely, the almost certain win fizzles out to a draw or sometimes even a loss if we're not careful.

It's interesting to see a much stronger player's thoughts into a similar position. My biggest lesson from his post is that in positions where you can't find a clear win, don't simplify and try to convert the advantage because there likely won't be one anymore. Just play a move that keeps the pressure on and forces them to find an accurate defense. Tough positions are where people make most of their blunders.
