I heard Kasparov had played the alapin, so I did a search and found this gem... Kasparov vs. our very own curtains!

If you scored 8%, I would not necessarily blaim the opening.
Well, I'm 48% with 3. Nd2 and 8% with 3. exd5 exd5 4. c4, so maybe, yeah, I would blame the opening.

interesting game for a simul. as the comments say 24...Nxc4 is just winning a pawn straight up- the rook going to c7 is an illusion after 25.Rc2 Nd6 26.Rc7 Rc8.

Kasparov also missed 38...g6 winning outright, for him that is a very strange oversight. His technique to win the seemingly level rook and pawn endgame is impressive- a valiant effort by young curtains.

Too bad he hasn't dropped in to comment. He used to post very actively in 6-max limit hold em a few years ago. I think as "gazza".

FWIW, the starting out - c3 sicilian got 4 stars on Checkpoint (Chesscafe.com) - it's also out there for digital sale now at everyman chess - I like the starting out books when they're well written/reviewed/approved -

I either need to muck with this or the Moscow on 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 cause my standard KIA 3. d3 doesn't work so well when he can play 3. e5 back at me
