Actually, my tactical vision appears to have fled the scene long before that dude.

What happens if two players tie for 2nd in a group, having the same tiebreaks, both losing to the top seed twice, beating each other once, and sweeping both 4th and 5th?

Then 3 from that group make it on to the next round.

Pretty sure my group is the hardest to get out of

Yes, everyone is playing well so far in our group (except for the guy who bailed)

This is ALOT harder, more time consuming and frustrating then I thought it would be.

Not just something fun to do while taking a dump at all! Were do I sign off?

I feel like this is my day job and trying to go for SNE is an easy and fun thing that I do on the side.

Kinda sad with my group; Ajezz crushed us, one of the players never played a move, the other played about 10 moves and bailed, and the two of us in the middle just split our games.

Our group pretty much played out as expected. Top two seeds finished 1-2, and only one game left.

A tougher first group this year for me, although I am also a little less obsessive about this (thankfully) some...odd moves escape as a result. Really enjoying my games with hamstergang/ganstaman; dating back to last year's tournament, all have been very interesting.

Noir_Desir is kicking my ass. He makes me feel like I have never even played chess before

Other than that, it has been a pretty enjoyable experience overall.

Thanks, I'd like to think I usually go for interesting games, even at the cost of correctness. But as they say, it takes 2 to tango.

Yeah...I had a really nasty flu a few weeks ago (and seemingly caught every cold going around before that), and a relative of mine died last week. It hasn't been a great winter.

so the real purpose of this is that we get to ban everyone that plays 1. d4, right?

World #1 Magnus Carlsen mentioned after his game today, "First of all you know I think I played absolutely disgracefully from move one."

Move one was 1.e4. Just saying.

If I'm not remembering wrong or seeing wrong, I've got the last games going like in the last tournament. They do both seem close to finishing, so stay closely tuned. And without working on it too hard, it seems to me that the results don't even matter overall as the places are already set (given the tiebreaks).

I think that's true. DaMaGor got a bad rap in this thread, but maybe it's our fault. Or more specifically, my fault.

Let it be noted that I am not in the last game being played this round.

(Not that there's any shame in being one of those players. Hamstergang and Sholar are playing out what looks like a very interesting endgame.)
