still unsent, dealing with some unforseen logistic issues that were taken to pm, will resolve soon as I believe i found a way through but awaiting confirmation he received the test penny (it's a weird thing that happened that I've never once ran into before)

i know this is not a good look with the "sending payment" and "whoopsies there's an issue" but I promise the money is there, has not left the Paypal account, and will be sent soon

Yeah no worries. Might be problem on my side, I saw an e-mail from Paypal to confirm my identity in order to receive money, I will look into it a bit later.

Received the money from escrow. Delay was caused due to my account not being verified. After verification and informing rickroll, I received the money right away. Thanks!

Then again, i'm your average 1700 FIDE club player so what do i know.
Honestly I think this is very accurate, pretty much identical to what I'd have said before the tournament. And we all know what happened...

They'll do better in the future, but this is their "Act like you've been here before" moment.

On the flip side of that, guys like Nepo and Fabi will probably overperform their ratings.

The real wildcards are Hikaru and Alireza. I'd say only those four can realistically win it. If MVL had qualified I'd say he could.

Fabi was matched only by Magnus in 2023, and he's not walking through that door. Fabi to win.
I was right that one of the Indians would hold up respectably well, at least.
