Carlsen in trouble now, see a scenario in which Fabi gets a two pawn advantage because of that king D4 on move 44. Very impressed with how Caruana has played under pressure, guy has been like a robot when most other players could've blundered.

When Svidler reviewed the previous open sicilian, I believe he discussed b4 as one of the moves attempted in the position. I don't think it was new?

It's wild how many times the assessment of who is pressing in this endgame has changed!

Wow, cannot believe a draw was agreed to that quickly. Wtf just happened? Am I missing something because I clearly have Caruana advantage in the endgame? Draw still likely but damn...

I think that was one of those cases where the computer shows an advantage but there's no realistic way to convert it into a win.

I think I missed a couple moves at the end, it wasn't a big advantage but still was hoping for some more fighting spirit at the end from Fabi. It was obvious Magnus was under some stress and snap agreed lol happy to get out of there.

The point about Magnus not having such a big advantage in tiebreaks is well taken after watching today and if we remember in game 1 Magnus missed the winning position under time constraints as well.

Both players give so little away, it's truly an incredible match for those who say draws are boring.

For grandmasters, this is a pretty routine draw.

I missed most of the game from around time-control onwards due to obligations.

Probably missed the best game of the match so far it seems.

Yermo to the rescue!

also missed the second half of the game, looks like there were chances for both sides. level of play is really impressive the whole match. if one natural move like Qg5 for black spoils it, it shows how difficult it is to get a winning advantage on this level.

Agreed. But I gotta say, I find these pressconferences hard to watch in general, which is understandable after such long and mentally demanding games. Still I find that media treatment is something that chess players could improve upon, especially someone like Magnus after being on top all these years

Meh I think it's been fine, both players understand the importance to promote the game even if some of the questions are poor in substance. That's just how it goes in this era of online media... I would say I don't like how much they laugh at Magnus' responses. At least try to act professional no matter how charming/honest he can be when he wants to.

They are both guaranteed quite a bit of money even before all their sponsorships and support teams, I'm sure it's part of what you sign up for.

Magnus did have an interesting answer in the pressor yesterday, he said that maybe 12 games wasn't enough due to each game having more importance and that maybe they should go to 16-18 in the next WCC thoughts? I actually think 12 is perfect and it's that these guys are so evenly matched in classical is why we are on this draw streak.

Why is it "professional" to not laugh at a funny remark?

And we've had the discussion about number of games in WCC matches before in this thread. Scroll up.

I'm just now catching up on this match, and maybe I'm getting to old for this but, wow, game 10 was just a baffling wonderment. I can see why they appear exhausted.

Holy ****. I come back from walking my dog and they traded down to this?

They might as well shake hands right now.

Edit: After move 27, 3v3 symmetrical on both sides with opp. col. Bs.

That's what I thought but then why think five minutes on move 27 and 28? I'm not a good chess player at all but it looked to me like you just bust out some moves post haste and after move 30 shake hands and go for a beer.

The commentators on Twitch.tv/chess showed some ideas/variatons how to still win this game, e.g. if the white king gets to b6. All of that can be defended but some accuracy is still needed.
