Keep your hands on the volume control when watching these. Nice compilation but AIDSed up by the stupid memes, and massive volume differences.

I don't like Kramnik's new black openings repertoire, although someone won with the same system with black. A super tournament but seems some players don't even want to win.

I know I've said this before but, looking good for a Fabi win here!

Thank goodness. Last round may be quite a sweat too. It will be weird that none of the players in contention will be playing each other. I guess if Ding draws he theoretically can win after beating Karjakin (I think?). Anyway, Karjakin is in another must win situation but against the only player who hasn't lost. Man I hope he doesn't pull some kind of rabbit out of his hat.

Going to miss the "dream team" of Svidler and Jan when this is over.

Well, until the world champ match. I assume they'll be doing that.

But, yeah, seems like they should just host a weekly podcast even if nothing is going on in the chess world.

I really hope Caruana wins. Or failing that, Ding draws. I want karjakin to not make it more than I want Fabi to make it at this point.

Can Mamedyarov defeat Mr. Vladimir "I'm always winning" Kramnik with the Black pieces!?

Tune in tomorrow to find out. Same bat time. Same bat channel!

Here's my prediction:

Caruana can only draw vs Grischuk

And Kramnik melts down vs Mamedyarov.

Mamedyarov wins the Candidates!

Thankfully Kramnik hasn't been melting down the last couple of games. So hopefully Mamedyarov melts down. Mentally he seemed very scattered in the last couple of postgame interviews.

The only outcome that I'd hate would be if both Grischuk and Kramnik won, which is now the only scenario where Karjakin would win the tourney. Fortunately, this is looking super-unlikely [at the time of writing, which is after Caruana's 42nd move and Kramnik's 48th one].

Yeah, RIP, Kramnik's e-pawn and winning chances

Yeah, I might just tank and wait for the other game to draw then offer a draw lol.

I haven't tuned into the live broadcast, but looking at the position after Kramnik's 52nd, I think Shakh wouldn't accept a draw offer anymore - he's gonna have 3 connected passers.

Edit: my bad, I didn't notice the threat of a perpetual or even a mating net (Rg8-g7-g8) Nd6+ looks like the best move in this light.

What do you guys think are Fabiano's chances in the 12 round match vs Magnus? What odds would you place?

Also what would his chances be vs Magnus in a match where draws don't count and it's first to 6 wins to win the match?
